First Aid 2023 pg 101 and AMBOSS page on Adaptive Immune System, subsections on T- and B- cell activation (https://next.amboss.com/us/article/x50Emg?q=adaptive%20immune%20system) state that CD40 and 40L are only involved in increasing the effects of cytokine release from Th1 cells, and there is no mention of 40/40L in T-cell activation. CD40L is only involved in activation when activating B cells. So this card should be changed from "t-cell activation" to "Th1 cell action."
First Aid, AMBOSS, and UWorld all disagree and state CD40L is involved in T cell activation for all subtypes of CD4 T cells.
Th1 = Promote cellular immune response (cytokine release) and Fight intracellular pathogens
Th2 = Initiate humoral immune response in cooperation with B lymphocytes
Fight extracellular pathogens (esp. parasites)
Th17 = Regulate tissue inflammation (both proinflammatory and antiinflammatory effects)
Fight extracellular pathogens
Thelper = Support B cell activation and maturation in lymphoid follicles
