I believe this was a typo, where "mesial" was entered as "medial". Source is in the explanation for UWorld QID: 15728, regarding FIAS: "a distinctive aura...localizes the origin of epileptiform discharges to the mesial temporal lobe (eg, hippocampus, amygdala, parahippocampal gyrus)."
