Rationale for new note
Bilirubin physiology and laboratory testing.
These were very hard to tag, and are possibly overtagged. However, they really do cross over many diseases.
Yield tagging may need a double-check
Text
In a patient presenting with detectable jaundice, what is their serum bilirubin?

Extra
- This is when jaundice becomes clinically detectable, at nearly twice the upper limit of normal (1-20 µmol/L)
- Jaundice is a clinical finding, and a patient may have hyperbilirubinaemia without jaundice
- Yellow skin colour with normal bilirubin can otherwise be due to carotenaemia
