Sero+/- Polyarticular JIA are the only subtypes of JIA that present with symmetric arthritis
Seronegative polyarticular JIA:
- Symmetric OR asymmetric joint involvement
- Also may affect the c-spine and/or TMJ
- Patients may present with anterior uveitis
- Negative RF
- Ages 1-4 yo and 6-12 yo (bimodal)
OR
Seropositive polyarticular JIA:
- Symmetric joint involvement
- Rheumatoid nodules (30%)
- Positive RF
- Ages 9-12 yo
Lab findings reflect systemic inflammation: leukocytosis, thrombocytosis, anemia, and elevated ESR
