Rationale for change
PER STAT PEARLS:
"The onset of action: The onset of action is typically 24 to 72 hours. A peak therapeutic effect is seen 5 to 7 days after initiation. However, the patient's international normalized ratio (INR) may increase within 36 to 72 hours after initiating treatment."
PER UTD:
"Thus, the desired anticoagulant effect of a VKA does not occur for at least three days after drug initiation despite prolongation of the prothrombin time (PT) at earlier time points."
The information in this card also conflicts with another Zanki card which states onset of warfarin takes days not hours.
