Respiratory zone: 

Bronchioles terminate to form {{c1::alveolar ducts}} which terminate into {{c2::alveolar sacs}}. 

Brochioles are made of cuboidal epithelium and less than 1mm thick

Type 1 cells are also known as pneumocytes and made of simple squamous epitheli

Type 2 cells produce surfactant which is lipids and proteins that act like detergents and reduce the surface tension of the alveolar fluid.
