This card's description is to similar to necrotizing enterocolitis. UWorld gave a similar history in an infant with necrotizing enterocolitis where an infnat presented with an abdomen that was tense and distended and had several episodes of billous vomitting. In the explanation, UWorld then stated that blood stools are also a classic finding that may not be present in the early stages of necrotizing enterocolitis.
As it stands, there is no additional information in this card that would lead the learner to think of midgut volvulus over necrotizing enterocolitis.
I suggest changing this card to include a history that excludes the diagnosis of necrotizing enterocolitis, such as "In a term infant with no history of enteral feeds."
