Indirect Inguinal Hernia's are usually caused by a patent {{c1::processus vaginalis}}
Extra
The processus vaginalis is an embryological outpouching of the peritoneum that extends into the scrotum during fetal development in males. It forms part of the pathway through which the testes descend. Normally, it closes after birth, but if it remains patent, it can lead to conditions such as an indirect inguinal hernia or a hydrocele. In females, the processus vaginalis is much smaller and typically obliterates without significant clinical implications.
