The same as if lasting >48 hours
- Increased breastfeeding and expressing of milk.
- Often caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Poor infant positioning, milk stasis and nipple damage are contributing factors.
- Mastitis not associated with breastfeeding should be referred for expert advice.
