- Etiology: small cell lung cancer, stroke, hemorrhage, pneumonia, drugs
- Symptoms: initially asymptomatic or vague symptoms (nausea, forgetfulness) → seizures, coma
- Diagnosis: hyponatremia (serum Na+<135), low serum osmolality (<275 mOsm/kg), high urine osmolality (>300 mOsm/kg), urine sodium >40 mEq/L
