Rationale for change

PCOS has recently (May 2026) been renamed to PMOS given an new understanding that PMOS is a metabolic disorder that leads to downstream ovarian dysfunction, including sometimes (but not always) ovarian cysts.

It takes a while for USMLE, guidelines, textbooks, UWorld/Amboss/First Aid, etc. to update terminology. The change is very recent. The card needs to have both names for a while.
