Lineage commitment (CD4/CD8) of T-Cells occurs in the cortex and not the medulla. First aid is wrong.

The following is a peer-reviewed review article asserting that thymic cortical epithelial cells, located in the thymic cortex, are the essential actors of T-cell lineage commitment.
