I would like to update the lethal triad -> the diamond of death including hypocalcemia as it is becoming more recognized as a major contributor to morbidity and mortality in major haemorrhage:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41180256/
Admittedly this is quite current and there aren't any solid guidelines covering this. Usual sources such as LITFL have not updated their materials to reflect this change yet but it is being taught in hospitals and it has long been known that calcium plays an integral role in the clotting cascade and thus, hypocalcaemic patients are at higher risk for mortality.
I'm happy for someone to knock this down as my main critique of it would probably be that it's quite early so there isn't a ton of literature out about whether or not this should or shouldn't be part of the group with hypothermia, acidosis and coagulopathy. Let me know
Thanks
I've also cleaned up the extra box a bit with some formatting and added bolding and underlining to the question
