- This vaccine is a polysaccharide capsule and protein conjugate providing long-lasting immunity against 20 serotypes
- Provides no significant immunity against nonvaccinated serotypes; therefore, infection can still occur
- PCV15 can can be used as an alternative in children
- In adults ≥ 50, PCV20 eliminates the need to administer PCV15 followed by PPSV23
- This card previously tested old guidelines, which recommended vaccination at ≥ 65 years of age with PPSV23 alone. It's unknown which guidelines UWorld and/or the NBME will test on (Nov 2025)
