- Trendelenburg sign is caused by the weakness of the gluteus medius / minimus muscles causing the pelvis to sag toward the unaffected (contralateral) side when the patient stands on the affected leg

- Gluteus medius lurch is seen when walking, as the patient will lean toward the affected (ipsilateral) side to compensate for hip drop
