Clarification (extra)
Somatoform disorder is an outdated diagnostic category that has been replaced by Somatic Symptom Disorder (SSD) in the DSM-5
Somatic Symptom Disorders are, by definition, unintentional.
Factitious Disorder was moved into the Somatic Symptom and Related Disorders category.
Malingering is explicitly not classified as a mental illness or psychiatric diagnosis in the DSM-5. Instead, it is placed in the chapter for "Other Conditions That May Be a Focus of Clinical Attention."
