Rationale for change
This is specifically a femoral *artery* aneurysm. Femoral vein aneuryms/dilation are rare (typically associated trauma/AV fistula) and wouldn't be pulsatile.
This distinction is necessary for answering UW Step 2 qid:4241, where one incorrect answer choice is "femoral vein aneurysm" and the correct answer choice is "femoral artery aneurysm."
From the UW question: "The clinical scenario described is consistent with a femoral artery aneurysm. A pulsatile groin mass below the inguinal ligament is characteristic"

Extra
- Popliteal and femoral artery aneurysms are the most common peripheral artery aneurysms
- Management is conservative if size ≤ 2.5 cm; for femoral aneurysms > 2.5 cm, manage with open surgical repair or endovascular stent placement

- Compare to pseudoaneurysm which has similar symptoms but is post-surgery on femoral artery
- May compress nearby structures (e.g., nerve, veins) and cause pain or thrombosis
