"leading to cardiovascular collapse" gives away the answers. This means you don't have to understand what a tension pneumothorax is in order to answer the question.

- Important exception to the typical order of establishing the airway first
- If a patient with a tension pneumothorax requires mechanical ventilation, immediate tube thoracostomy should be performed first
- Needle thoracostomy is a temporizing measure. Once the patient is out of immediate danger, a thoracostomy tube or catheter should be placed
- If immediately available and appropriate for the clinical situation, a thoracostomy tube or catheter is an alternative for initial decompression
