Collecting Duct
● Types of Cells:
● Principal cell = Primary site of Na+ reabsorption
● ⍺-intercalated = Secretes acid, reabsorbs bicarbonate
● β-intercalated = Reabsorbs acid, secretes bicarbonate
Also in the image attached to the card it indicates bicarbonate is reabsorbed but K+ is not seen within the cells of the collecting duct.
It would only make sense that if alpha intercalated cells secrete H+ then they would reabsorb bicarbonate to ensure metabolic acid-base balance. K+ would not balance the acid-base balance.
Also, K+ is reabsorbed in the principal cells of the collecting duct, so I think this might be a typo.
