Even-chain fatty acids can only be oxidized to acetyl-CoA via β-oxidation, so they cannot be used for gluconeogenesis.
For something to be used in gluconeogenesis, it has to be metabolized to a TCA intermediate & not acetyl-coA.
So, although even chain fatty acids can be utilized for energy, they cannot be used for gluconeogenesis
