I wrote this card for my personal collection after getting uworld QID 108097 wrong. I didn't know the time period to wait for H Pylori testing if a patient was taking PPIs. This seems clinically relevant and useful in real life, let alone for exams.

In H. pylori testing, PPIs should be stopped for {{c1::2 weeks}} prior to performing urea breath, or stool antigen testing.

PPIs are associated with false negative test results for both urea breath testing and stool antigen testing. Stool antigen testing is generally preffered due to cheaper cost.
Serologic testing is not affected by use of PPI, but it is not specific for a previous infection or current infection. It also has lower testing sensitvity and specificity.
