Additionally:
According to a Swedish source, it seems that since the Baveno-meeting of 2022 (Baveno VII) carvelilol is preferred for all patients with compensated cirrhosis with a elastographic value of >25 kPa (as measured by Fibroscan) regardless if the patient has varices or not. The reasoning for this is that it in addition to preventing variceal bleeding also prevents decompensation.
