Dr. Ryan mentions that these paradoxical shunts are rare, wording should be changed from "common cause of embolic ischemic stroke" to "potential cause of embolic ischemic stroke" to emphasize that it is more of an educational example, rather than something we should immediately assume has occured in a post-stroke patient with PFO.
