- In pregnant patients and children, who cannot take first-line doxycycline, both amoxicillin & cefuroxime are preferred, but ceftriaxone can also be used for severe disease manifestation
- AAP now supports use of doxycycline in patients < 8 years of age for short courses (≤ 21 days) as the risk of dental staining is minimal
