This card is a bit misleading. UWorld question #15478 (this card's origin) is about a 12-year-old girl with SCFE who is found on exam to have "a few soft, nontender, mobile, 1-cm inguinal lymph nodes palpable bilaterally." In the answer explanation, UWorld clarifies that "this patient is otherwise asymptomatic, and her soft, nontender, 1-cm lymph nodes are normal, physiologic nodes." In other words, the palpable lymph nodes are an incidental finding unrelated to SCFE. This needs to be clarified because the card implies that the nodes are related to SCFE.
UpToDate "Peripheral lymphadenopathy in children: Evaluation and diagnostic approach" confirms that "The size of a lymph node considered to be normal varies depending upon the lymph node region and age of the child. . . . normal lymph nodes in the inguinal region usually are less than 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) in diameter."
