Rationale for change
Add tag: #AK_MCAT_v2::#UWorld::400574 for question: "The experiment was originally performed at physiological pH (7.4). After the initial protective layer of Mg(OH)2(s) has formed, raising the pH to 12 would: .inhibit the corrosion of the magnesium disks. (68%)" which is explained by the common ion effect
Rejection reason
Please feel free to suggest with an appropriate supporting rationale. More information can be found here: https://community.ankihub.net/t/anking-mcat-deck-submission-guidelines/384726

The {{c3::common ion effect}} causes {{c2::solubility}} to {{c1::decrease::increase or decrease}} when {{c2::adding like ions::what happens?}}.
Extra
Imagine trying to dissolve NaCl in 1L of chlorinated water. Consider this an application of Le Chatelier's principle: since there is a bunch of Cl- already, equilibrium will be pushed to the left. NaCl would be much more soluble in distilled water.
NaCl(s) ⇌ Na+(aq) + Cl-(aq)
Qsp = [Na][Cl]
NaCl(s) ⇌ Na+(aq) + Cl-(aq)
Qsp = [Na][Cl]
