- Kaplan defines sensory adaptation as being up-, or down-regulation in response to stimulus detection (2023-2024).
- UWorld textbooks define sensory adaptation as being only the down-regulation of response to stimulus (2024).
- Khan Academy varies in its treatment of the term in different videos.
