Rationale for change
Per Amboss, weight loss results in 1 mm Hg per kg reduction in body weight in overweight individuals.
However, in patients who are not overweight or obese, weight loss obviously isn't a relevant modification. In that case, the DASH diet is the most effective method (~11 mmHg reduction in SBP).
For a person to reduce SBP by >11 mmHg via weight loss, they would need to lose >24 lbs.
