General rule of thumb:
- If the rupture happens at ≥ 34 weeks, deliver the baby
- If the rupture happens at < 24 weeks, the pregnancy is nonviable and the fetus is considered aborted
- At 24-34 weeks, assess the risk of infection vs. lung maturation benefits and other complications of prematurity
- Since PPROM is often secondary to infection, antibiotics will prolong the interval between membrane rupture and delivery
