AMBOSS states that " Definitive surgical treatment is indicated for active, independent patients. First-line surgical treatment for a stable intertrochanteric fracture is internal fixation using either an intramedullary nail or a dynamic hip screw.
Femoral fractures are only considered a surgical emergency if there is vascular compromise, which is limb-threatening. This patient does not require emergent surgery."
