Yes but there’s also cerebral edema, and any other number of places where fluid accumulates as a result. Facial plethora is a presenting symptom, edema speaks to the broader underlying physiology. A patient coming in with a red puffy face is different from consideration what’s happening throughout the body and the resultant consequences.
If you expect facial plethora to represent all of the educational value of this card, then how are people supposed to make connections to the information about the dangers of cerebral edema or compression of airway structures? Why not replace all the cards with meningitis or encephalitis and let ‘fever’ be sufficient for people to then make the second or third degree connections? If the intent of the card is to solely focus in presenting symptoms then correct the language so it correctly emphasizes that over all the other possible consequences.
