Anaphylaxis causes widespread venous/arteriolar dilation along with increased capillary permeability / third spacing:
- decrease in venous tone results in decrease in mean systemic filling pressure
- cardiac contractility increases in compensation (upward shift in cardiac function curve)

Chronic anemia causes:
- Increase in CO to meet metabolic demands of tissue (increased inotropy → cardiac function curve shifts upwards)
- Slight increase in venous return due to decreased blood viscosity (resulting in a slight clockwise rotation of vascular function curve)
- This results in increased cardiac output and slight increase/no change in venous return
