- Positive test is indicative of any patellofemoral joint disorders (i.e., patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), chondromalacia patellae, and patellofemoral osteoarthritis)
- Patellar grind test: performed with the patient supine and the knee extended. The examiner applies downward pressure superior to the patella while the patient contracts the quadriceps
- Patellar compression test: performed by applying downward pressure directly to the patella while the patient contracts the quadriceps
