There are two subspecies of Pediculus humanus:
Pediculus humanus capitis (head louse) - infects scalp hair.
Pediculus humanus corporis (body louse)- infects the axilla and waist.
Lice drink human blood and lay eggs called nits. School attendance should not be disrupted due to infection.
