Rationale for change
There is a normal B cell count in SCID, but the lack of T cells makes it so they cannot be activated. I included this source which states the same
"X-linked SCID X-linked SCID (SCID-X1) accounts for 50–60% of cases of SCID [14]. It is characterized by an absence of mature T and NK lymphocytes, whereas B cells have a normal phenotype and are present in increased numbers."
