- Same side results in contralateral paresis because the fibers decussate below the medulla; patients initially have flaccid paralysis with hyporeflexia → spasticity / hyperreflexia in days to weeks due to (spinal shock)
- Specifically, the anterior portion of the cerebral peduncle - the crus cerebri - is being compressed (contains the motor tracts)
