Rationale for change
The subscript a's in this equation should be lowercase, which is the common notation for arterial PCO2 (as opposed to alveolar PCO2, which is what subscript capital A denotes). Arterial PCO2 is what can be measured on an arterial blood gas and thus is used clinically. This is also how this equation is written in FA2023 (33rd Ed.) p684.
