Rationale for change
This card should have "rarely" in front of carcinoid syndrome to be more accurate and more helpful for learning the typical presentation of this disease, otherwise it is misleading in training med students to think carcinoid syndrome effects are just as common as mass effects when mass effects are a far more common presentation!
Even the extra section of the card says "bronchial carcinoid tumors produce far less serotonin/vasoactive amines and do not often cause carcinoid syndrome."

Extra
- Symptoms of mass effect include cough, dyspnea, hemoptysis, and recurrent pneumonia in same lung anatomic portion
- Symptoms of carcinoid syndrome include bronchospasm, flushing, diarrhea, wheezing, and (in this case) left-sided heart defects as blood from the lungs travels first to the left-sided heart
- Compared to gastrointestinal carcinoid tumors, bronchial carcinoid tumors produce far less serotonin / vasoactive amines and do not often cause carcinoid syndrome
